Ronnie knew she was safe with the four men on the ice and inside the locker room. They would defend her if anyone wanted to pick a fight with her but right off the bat they also knew she could stand up for herself. Once practice was over with, she skated over towards where Trevor Linden was standing.
"Hey, Ronnie."
"Hey, Trev." Ronnie had no clue what to say to Trevor. She wanted to say the right words. Will she ever find them or not?
"Ronnie, is there anything you want to ask me?"
"Um, yeah, I did. I was needing to know if you were going to retire or not."
"I think this it, Ronnie. I am going to retire for good. I need to move on with my life and I want to do so many amazing things like help out kids and adventure out there. I want to enjoy it."
"Wow," Ronnie was shocked and didn't realize Trevor was serious. She had to do something for Trevor.
"Ronnie, what is behind these questions?"
"Oh. I was wondering if I can do something special for you for the website like a gallery and song for the site's concert."
"Ronnie, you are more than welcome to do it. Were you scared to ask me?"
"Yeah, I was. You are such an awesome player that I wanted to do something great for you."
"You do that, Ronnie. I will be at the concert during the summer to support your cause. Yours and Brenden's cause. That is so sad what happened to him. I can't image playing a sport and thinking about someone so close to me."
"I am now, Trev. He called a day after she died and I was devastated. She was my best friend and someone I would talk to if I had any boy trouble. I am now surviving without her in my life and knowing I can do it. She helped me with my music career, it's time I return the favor by singing and doing an amazing concert for her and my grandmother, who is a breast cancer survivor."
"That is great, Ronnie. Your singing career will be an amazing start and people will know it from the concert. I can't wait now."
"Me either except I can't figure out what to do with this one song and it has been with me for the past few days.”
"Does this song have a significant meaning to you or to anyone important?”
“Yes, it does. This song is for my grandmother and best friend, Sarah.”
“Just remember that everyone will love that song, knowing who it is for.”
“Oh, I will, Trevor. I just can’t write it. The song won’t come to me.”
“You will when the time is right, Ronnie. I know you will. You are strong and will be able to make it. You will get your courage and strength to write the best song out there.”
“Thanks for the encouragement, Trevor. Maybe writing from my heart is what I need to do. I will try.”
“You are welcome, Ronnie. Come to me if you need any help with songs or have any trouble.”
“I promise I will, Trevor.”
Both Ronnie and Trevor hugged one another. They knew that their friendship was strong and that they will make it. Ronnie knows that she can go to Trevor if she is ever stuck or just someone to talk to. She knows it and so does everyone else.
